Alan " Big Al" Johnson , 68, of El Dorado, died Thursday April 8, 2010 at St. Vincent
Hospital in Little Rock, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born September 7, 1941, in El Dorado. He was the son of Albertus L Johnson and Denver Ola (Rhodes) Johnson Sandifer. Alan graduated from El Dorado High School class of 1962. He relocated to Los Angleles Ca. where he wrote songs for T.V. shows and produced and wrote records for artists in Canada and the U.S. and for J. Presley and Peter Breck (Big Valley). As an artist he recorded under the Just Good Records label owned by his friend Dennis Weaver (Gunsmoke , McCloud). He appeared on several T.V. shows including Hee Haw, Dinah Shore, Mike Douglas and the Big Show. Alan was a member of the ASCAP writers union. He was a proud grandpa and was enjoying his return of El Dorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Deloris Kirkland
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, "Non" Dyrstad Johnson, two sons Chris and Yolanda Johnson of El Dorado and Jeramiah Johnson of Los Angeles, Ca. A sister Bettie
and Charles Perdue of El Dorado. Grandchildren Branden, Ashley, Caitlyn, Dominique, Fairyn and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 12, 2010 at 10AM at Perry's Funeral Chapels with Bro. Scott Attebery officiating. Burial will be in Wyatt - Parnell Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday
April 11, 2010, from 5 til 7 at the funeral home.
The family will be at 328 Nick Springs Road.
