Bettye Jean Bowen Gathright, 84, of Huttig passed away on  February 11, 2021  at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. She was born on August 9, 1936 in Marion, Louisiana to the late Thaxton Bowen and Maggie Inez Edwards Bowen. Betty was definitely one of a kind and enjoyed quilting, canning and fishing.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sons, Billy Gathright and Jesse DeWayne "JD" Gathright; sisters, Mary Maude Bowen and Glenda Kyle; and brothers, Venoy Bowen and Roy Wayne Bowen.

Survivors include her ex-husband, Jay Dee Gathright; son, Stanley Gathright (Liz); daughters, Sarah Gathright (Juan) and Deborah Lum; ten grandchildren; Twenty-four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 PM on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Perry's Funeral Chapels. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 3:00 PM officiated by Bro. Buddy Lowery. Due to inclement       weather a private interment will be held at Edwards Cemetery in Marion, Louisiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations for funeral expenses be made to Perry's Funeral Chapels.
