Billy "Bill" David Barksdale, 77, of Mt. Holly, Arkansas, passed away on November 16, 2025. He was born on November 19, 1947, to Aubrey and Dorothy Griffith Barksdale, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jim Barksdale, and his sister, Sue Bailey.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam War veteran. His service was a lifelong source of pride—for him and for those who loved him. He carried the strength, humor, and resilience of a Marine throughout his life, often sharing a lighthearted joke at the expense of the other branches of the military.

He is survived by his children, Donny Barksdale of Benton and Amber Daugherty (Kevin) of Ward; 4 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A small graveside service will be held in his honor at Mt. Holly Cemetery in Mount Holly, Arkansas, on December 6 at 1:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Bill's favorite nephew, Raymond Bailey—a detail that would undoubtedly bring a smile to Bill's face, as he was always quick with a joke about who the "favorite" really was.

Though we mourn his passing, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit sails on—forever at peace, forever a Marine.
