On April 28, 2024 Bonnie Louise (Phillips) Hartnell, loving wife, mother, Nana, sister and Aunt passed away
peacefully at home in Strong, Arkansas, surround by family. Bonnie was born on August 05, 1953 in Muscatine, Iowa to Ernest Lee and Louise Leotta (Hubbs) Philllips.
On Feb 06, 1971, She Married Fred McCormick in St. Louis, Missouri. She and Fred welcomed
their daughter Beth then they divorced a few years later. On October 07, 1990 in Muscatine, Iowa
Bonnie married Walter Edward Hartnell, a few months later they welcomed son Tommy.
Bonnie was known as a generous, kind hearted and compassionate soul. She loved the simple things
such as gardening and entering her flowers in the county fairs, winning several top ribbons, which she
was so proud of. She loved most spending time with her precious family. Bonnie was always someone
who loved to help those in need. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and always be
remembered in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Louise; husband Walter; siblings David, Vergil,
Ernest (Bing); sister-in-law Mary Phillips; brother-in-law Joe Peterson; and niece Misty Dawn.
She is survived by her children Beth (Aric) Hamilton of El Dorado, AR, Tommy Hartnell of Strong, AR; 5 step-daughters, Bonnie, Debbie,
Cheri, Char and Cindy all of Minnesota; granddaughter Whitley (Joshua) Burnett; 17 step-
grandchildren; great-granddaughter Aubrey Burnett; 13 step-great grandchildren; siblings
Vonda Adams, Michael Phillips, Sara (Mike) Buckley and Lydie Peterson; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service in her honor will be held 2:00 PM Monday, June 17, 2024, at Jesus Mission Church in Muscatine, IA, inurnment following at Muscatine Memorial Park. A time of visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until time of service at the church.
