The most amazing reunion took place Sunday, September 6, 2010 as Cody Alan Fitzgerald left this world and joined his Heavenly Father and Earthly father in Paradise.
Cody was the son of the late Mark Alan Fitzgerald and Shelley Renee Fitzgerald. He was born on June 28, 1988 in Union County.
He attended Parkers Chapel School, graduating in 2006. He then attended college at University of Arkansas in Monticello and then University of Arkansas in Conway. He was a former employee of Smackover Drilling and American Steel and an active member of the Faircrest Volunteer Fire Department.
Most recently he proudly enlisted in the United States Army as a Calvary Scout. He was so excited for the opportunity to serve his country. He was due to ship out for basic training in Fort Knox on October 27, 2010.
He was a son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin and amazing friend to everyone he met. His passion was his family and friends. He loved his family and especially his niece and nephews. He was always up for a good time with anyone. People loved him for his sense of humor and smile that could brighten the darkest of rooms. He never failed to make sure the people he loved knew just how much he loved them. He also enjoyed deer hunting, watching Razorback football, and riding his motorcycle.
He was preceded in death by his father; Mark Alan Fitzgerald, Maternal grandmother; Margaret Christianson, and Paternal grandfather; Donald Fitzgerald.
He left behind many family and friends including his mother; Shelley Fitzgerald, Sister; Stephanie (Jason) Luker and Whitney (Will) Haynes, nice; Hunter Luker, nephews; Kaden Luker and Ethan Haynes all of El Dorado, maternal grandfather; Charles "Bud" Christianson and paternal grandmother; Rosemary Fitzgerald, both of El Dorado and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Morton, Michael Fitzgerald, Mason Blackman, Steven Adair, Brad Ham, and Ryan Williams.
Funeral will be at 2pm Thursday September 9, 2010 at Marrable Hill Chapel with Bro. Jason Luker officiating. Interment will be in Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-9:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flower, donations can be made to the Faircrest Volunteer Fire Department in memory of Cody.
Our hearts are broken, but our spirits are joyful; we know the happiness Cody had here is now greater than we can imagine. He always told everyone that the ones who passed on first were the lucky ones and we should not be sad for them, but rejoice in their victory-we are rejoicing.
