Donnie Virginia Ellis 89, of El Dorado died Monday September 17, 2012 at Oak Ridge Nursing Home. She was born March 26, 1923 in Emerson, Arkansas. She is the daughter of the late J.J. Emerson and Ella Chaffin Emerson.

Donnie worked for Ford Pharmacy for 30years as a clerk and then pharmaceutical tech before retiring. She was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed quilting and was a member of the "Quilt Guild" quilting club. She was also a member of "Breast Friends". She enjoyed hunting and fishing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Ellis, brother, Darrell Emerson and grandson, Donny Joe Willoughby.

Survivors include a son, W.L. "Sonny" Cheatham and wife Ruth, daughter, Imogene Ricks and husband Jimmy, stepdaughter, Sandra Goodwin and stepson, Randy Ellis and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Chapel services will be held 10am Thursday September 20, 2012 at Perry's Funeral Chapels with Wendell Miller and Nicky Barnett officiating. Burial will be in Christie Chapel Cemetery near Emerson, Arkansas. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Don Cheatham, Bill Cheatham, Tommy Mills, Brandon Mills, Cody Mills, Scott Willoughby and Joseph Cheatham. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm Wednesday September 19, 2012 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Life Touch Hospice or The American Cancer Society.
