Obituary
Dorothy Payne McBride, a lifelong resident of El Dorado, died Sunday May 16 in Shelbyville, TN following an extended illness.
Born Oct. 1, 1916 in Mt. Holly, Union County, Arkansas she was the daughter of Joseph Emery Payne and Winnie Nesbit Payne. Dorothy graduated from El Dorado High School in 1935. She was a retired Accounting Clerk, Credit Department, at Murphy Oil Corp. She was member of First Baptist Church for 71 years and the Ruth Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Haydn Hiram McBride, Jr. who died in 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Benjamin McBride of Dallas, TX, and Dr. Ronald Edward (Gloria) McBride of Murfreesboro, TN and five grandchildren; Donna Elaine (Mark) Chronister, Dallas, TX, Melody Elizabeth (David) Goldmeyer, Keller, TX, Matthew Martin (Michelle) McBride, Murfreesboro, TN, Joseph Ryan McBride, Dallas, TX, Robert Allen McBride, Dallas, TX, and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2011 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Lyndell P. Worthern Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Holly Cemetery under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels in El Dorado. Grandsons, husbands of granddaughters and family friend, John Thomas Williamson, will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 200 W. Main St., El Dorado, AR 71730.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the funeral home.
