Dorothy Terry Smith, of El Dorado, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the age of 94.
The oldest of four daughters, Dorothy was born to John Dixon and Minnie Mae Murphy Terry on July 7, 1918 in Lillie , Louisiana . At the age of 5 she moved with her family to El Dorado, where she lived for the rest of her life.
In 1944, she met and married Wayne Smith of Vernon, Texas. Together they raised 2 daughters and built a successful building construction business, Wayne Smith Construction Co.
After Wayne's death in 1970, Dorothy went on to work in various businesses in El Dorado, and was active in several community organizations, including the DAR, the MCSA Auxillary, and the Pilot Club of which she was a member for 18 years.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and love of her life, Wayne Smith; a grandson Michael Wayne Davis; and two of her sisters Kathleen Brasher and Ann Nesbit.
She is survived by daughters Terry Davis (Jim) of El Dorado and Mary Lucinda Smith (Tommy) of Monroe, Louisiana; grandchildren Jamie Davis Kochakian (Tim) of Shreveport, Louisiana ; Lyle Davis (Emily) of Sherwood, Arkansas; Jason Smith (Meredith) of Monroe, Louisiana and Amanda Smith Sevier (Daniel) of Shreveport, Louisiana; one sister Marjorie Eudy of El Dorado; nine great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Our forever thank-you to all the angels at LifeTouch Hospice who cared for our mother as if she were their own .
Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Perry's Funeral Chapels.
Graveside Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Arlington Memorial Cemetery with Rev Paula Claire Hall officiating, under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels.
