Edith M. Gibbs, 87, of El Dorado, died Saturday, November 7, 2009 at her home.
Born September 20, 1922, in Prescott, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Charles Mathew
McMillian, Sr. and Nancy Pauline Hawley McMillian. She worked at the Rialto and Majestic
Theaters as projectionist during World War II. Then for RCA in Harrison, New Jersey as
a Qualilty Control Inspector. She then got into television as a film editor in 1955. Edith worked
in El Dorado a short time, then in Corpus Christi, Texas; Port Arthur, Texas and ending up in
Fresno, California. Edith retired in 1986 as Film Director / Satellite Coordinator for a ABC
owned and operated T. V. station in Fresno, California

She was preceded in death by her husband Edward G. Gibbs, her parents; three brothers, Glynn,
Cecil and Charles McMillian, Jr; four sisters, (infant) Nancy Elizabeth McMillian, Bessie Allene
Jones, Grace Antoon Bryant, and Emma Lee Ferguson.


Survivors include one step-granddaughter, Melissa Gibbs, four step great-grandchildren.
Two nieces, Sarah Jo Hansen, Polly (Dave) Brucker, a nephew Clive (Cammy) Ferguson; great
niece Linda (Tommy) Smith, great nephew Ray (Ginger) Parks, great niece Sherry (Van) Dumas,
great niece Dinah (Donny) Jester, great nephews Robbie (Cindy) Hansen and
Blake (April) Selmon.

Funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 13, 2009 at College Avenue Church of Christ
with Dr. Dan Williams officiating. Burial will be in Smackover Cemetery beside her husband,
Eddie Gibbs under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels

Visitation will be Thursday, November 12th at the funeral home from 6 til 7 P.M.

Edith wants to say a special thanks to her great niece Sherry Dumas and her husband Van for
their special loving care shown to her.
