EJ Henson was born on January 27th, 1937, in Newport Arkansas, the 3rd child and 1st son of James Frank and Hazel (Fulton) Henson.

Being the eldest boy of a family with nine children, lent him the quiet authority he radiated for the rest of his life. The Henson’s were a wild bunch, handsome and hearty. EJ married Virginia when he was 19 years old. Two beautiful girls, Debbie and Christine quickly followed. During his younger years EJ farmed. His passion for the outdoors led him into the log woods, where he devoted many years of his life. He was a bear of a man, a gentle giant, who was known to load trucks of pulp wood by hand.

He married Linda (Holt) in the late eighties and was a loving and devoted stepfather to Rebecca, Rhonda, Randall and Ryan. They settled in Plumerville in 1996, where EJ opened Henson’ s Tire and Bub’s Burgers. For 25 years he showed up day after day with quiet dedication, serving his community. Through changing times, and many challenges EJ and his tire shop became a steady Prescence, helping neighbors in need, mentoring his sons and grandsons, and serving up legendary burger that is still talked about today. When EJ wasn’t changing tires, he was fishing or camping or finding treasures at flea markets. He shared his adventurous spirit, and his love for the outdoors with many generations of family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Hazel, his wife Linda, his daughter Christine and his son Raymond.

EJ’s kindness will always be remembered, and his presence will be missed more than words can say by his children, Debbie (Randy); Rebecca; Rhonda (Bill); Randall (Penny); Ryan (Lisa); his 17 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren.
