IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth
Dugal
September 23, 1944 – November 8, 2024
Elizabeth Bird Smith Dugal left the struggles of this world and went to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 8, 2024.
Elizabeth was 80 years old, and preceded in death by her father Archie Smith; her mother Ellen Byers Smith; her sister Jennifer Smith Baker; and an aunt, who was as close as a sister, Bertha Miller.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Dwayne Dugal, nephew Mark Baker, niece Diane Miller, great niece Hannah Miller.
Elizabeth had a Master's Degree in Education and spent approximately twenty years teaching in the Public School System. She then moved into student counseling at Oil Belt Vocational School and later at South Arkansas Community College. Her dedication and concern for the students she counseled was attested to by the fact that she could not go grocery shopping without encountering multiple students that still desired to visit with her, even in the produce aisle.
Elizabeth had an open generous heart for the needy and neglected. Of the fifteen or so pets she had in her lifetime fourteen were rescue animals adopted right off the street. Her generosity was proven by the fact that annually she monetarily donated to twenty-five or thirty charities, everything from the Animal Protection Society to Disable Veterans to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
Elizabeth was also deeply concerned about spreading the Gospel Message throughout the world. She was a member of the First Baptist Strong Missions Committee and Participated in multiple mission efforts throughout the United States, as well as researching and fact checking many of the Committee's current donation recipients.
Elizabeth has a heart larger than many people ever realized because she never "tooted her own horn". So much of 1 Corinthians 13 and its descriptions of love keep coming to mind as fitting Elizabeth, perhaps because she was motivated by love more than any other thing.
Anyone wishing to give a memorial in Elizabeth's name may donate to the First Baptist Strong Missions Fund or to the Strong Cemetery Fund.
Funeral services in her honor will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Strong, AR, Pastor Scotty Guillot, Pastor Robert Tucker and Pastor Larry Byers officiating, internment following at Strong Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 6-8 Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at the church.
