Ernest B. McVicker, fondly known as Pops to his family, 73, of Strong, AR passed away on July 6, 2021 at John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital in Little Rock, AR. He was born on June 22, 1948 in Litroe, LA to the late DH McVicker and Charlene Jamison Rockerfeller.
Ernest was of the Baptist faith and a 1966 Graduate of Marion Highschool. He married the love of his life, Brenda Gandy McVicker, on October 27, 1967, this October would have been their 54 th wedding anniversary. Soon after Ernest and Brenda were married, he was drafted in to the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he served his country from 1968-1970. He was an electrician by trade and worked at the Huttig Plywood Plant for many years before going to work at Cooper Tire, from which he retired. Ernest loved his family very much and put them first in all that he did. He had many nieces and nephews that he cherished as his own, but Michael, Wadie, Melinda and Kendyl had a special place in Ernest's heart. His joy and brightest days came from his three granddaughters, Brittney, Macie, and Cisaley as well as his great-granddaughter, Ember. However, anyone that knew pops knew Cissy was his ray of sunshine.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Charlie and Macie Jamison; paternal grandparents, Ollie an Allie McVicker; and son, Trent McVicker.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Brenda Gandy McVicker; daughter, Charmaine Sinclair (David); son, Brad McVicker (Debra); granddaughters, Brittney Sinclair, Macie Sinclair (fiancé, Alex), Cisaley McVicker, great-granddaughter, Ember Sinclair; along with numerous nieces, nephews and special cousins, Mike Jerge, Eugene Jamison and their families.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Strong, AR. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church officiated by Danny Malone followed by Interment at Union Cemetery in Sadie, LA under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels.
