Florence
Williamson
April 13, 2026
Florence Maida Thurlkill Williamson, born December 24, 1938, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to Rufus and Sarah Thurlkill, passed peacefully on April 13, 2026
Florence was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was marked by faith, creativity, and a deep love for her family. She dedicated 27 years of service working in the fabrics department at Wal-Mart, where she shared her passion and knowledge with many. In addition to her work there, Florence owned and operated her own upholstery business, showcasing her remarkable talent and lifelong love for sewing.
A faithful Christian, Florence found great joy in her church and her relationship with God. She cherished simple pleasures—enjoying meals out, scrapbooking cherished memories, decorating and tending to her yard, and taking road trips. She also loved attending concerts and festivals, always embracing life’s moments with warmth and enthusiasm.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Sarah Thurlkill, sisters; Etta Hux, Joyce Ham, Ernestine Bates, Willie Jean Lockey, Carolyn Bryan Barker, her brother Virgil Thurlkill and her great-granddaughter, Jaelyn.
Florence is lovingly remembered by her children: Larry Hollis (Lana), Debbie Ball, and Lisa Whitefield (Mark); her grandchildren: Jamie Rodgers (Strick), Ashley Ebey (Cody), Brent Whitefield, Brandon Ball (Tiffany), and Shelby Calloway (Spencer); and her eight great-grandchildren: Hunter Adkins, Madison Whitefield, Bralyn Ball, Jaxon Whitefield, Finley Williams, Liam Whitefield, Chance Whitefield, Mercedes Wallace, numerous nieces, nephews, christian brothers and sisters, and friends.
Florence’s legacy of love, faith, and craftsmanship will live on in the many lives she touched and the family she cherished so deeply.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 1:00-2:00 at Hillsboro Church of Christ with a graveside service to follow at Smyrna Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Larry Hollis, Brandon Ball, Mark Whitefield, Hunter Adkins, Strick Rodgers, Cody Ebey
