IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Floyd
Lundy
November 25, 1952 – March 22, 2023
Floyd "Dutch" (Poppy Duke) Lundy was welcomed into this world by his parents, Ronald "Jake" and
Becky Sue Kettell Lundy on their 3rd wedding anniversary, November 25, 1952. With his wife and
daughter by his side, he departed this life on March 22, 2023.
Shortly after his 18th birthday, while in his freshman year at LSU, he had an accident that would lead to
his total loss of sight. He rejoined his family in Arkansas and found placement in the Hot Springs
Rehabilitation Center where he met his "Bright Eyes," Jeanine Lockey. Dutch was later transferred to the
Arkansas School for the Blind in Little Rock.
He and Jeanine were married at Mt Union Baptist Church on his 20th birthday, November 25, 1972. They
lived in Little Rock as he completed his degree with the University of Arkansas. He worked at Arkansas
Social Services in the Disabled Children's Program during his enrollment in the master's program at
UALR.
Dutch later moved his family to El Dorado and engaged in all things outdoors that south Arkansas had to
offer. He never let his handicap hold him back. From three wheelers to go-carts, water skiing to knee-
boarding, and hunting to fishing, he did it all! He even banged the drums and wrecked motorcycles! He
opened Lundy's Small Engine and repaired anything that came into his shop. He was a master of making
something out of nothing. He competed in local and state chess tournaments, advocated for the
disabled and abused, was an avid CB-er, and enjoyed being the unofficial "sports announcer" for the Mt
Union Baseball team. In his 70 years, there isn't much that Dutch wasn't known to have tried at least
once and every person that met him has a story to tell about "that one time…"
Dutch was a husband, a stay-at-home dad, a friend, a teacher, a storyteller, an inspirator, and a
shennanigator. He was a brother, an uncle, a mentor, and around town he was best known as "The Blind
Guy." And to those he adored most, he was Poppy Duke. After his double amputation in 2020, Dutch
became a Facebook legend touching the lives of so many more. He will be deeply missed by all who met
him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Floyd "Major", Jr., his grandson Logan, and his sisters
Mary Abdullah and Paula Andrews. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 50 years, Jeanine, his
daughter and son in law, Sara and William Middleton, his grandchildren Dustin Lundy, Kourtney (Blake)
Messer, Alycia (Matthew) Reynolds, and Tiffany, Justin, and Brianna Middleton, his great-grandchildren
Mia Castillo, Kane and Ellie Jo Messer, and Josie and River Reynolds, and his sisters Rhonda (John) Pierce
and Holly (Vic) Healey, along with a ton of best friends, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and outlaws.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a child advocacy group of your choice. There will be an all-
day, come and go, Celebration of Life on April 1st at Moro Bay State Park pavilion for friends and family.
