Obituary

Frances Marlene Thurlkill Owens stepped onto the streets of gold in Heaven on Friday morning, September 9, 2016 after her battle with Alzheimer's.
Frances was born on May 22, 1939 to Marlin Benjamin Thurlkill and Addie Elno Hux Thurlkill. She graduated from Junction City High School in 1958. Upon graduation she went to bookkeeping school in El Dorado and worked for the 7UP Bottling Co. She married John Adrian Owens on September 5, 1958. They were married for 56 ½ years at the time of John's death.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John, son-in-law Richard Jinks, sister Madeline Amis, brother and sister-in-law Harry Bryant and Inez Thurlkill and sister-in-law Pam Owens.
Surviving are her daughter Johnette Owens Jinks, son Ben Owens. Grandchildren Jessica Marlene Perry (Billy), Josh Randall Bobbitt, Michael Lane Jinks (Marta). Great grandchildren Adrian, Benjamin, Chloe, Richard and Daisy Perry, Declan Bobbitt, Jalyn Upshaw, Madison Jinks, Kennedy Langston and Joshua Jinks. Brothers Floyd Thurlkill (Juanita), Henry Thurlkill (Cindy), brother-in-law Clarence Owens and sister-in-law Heather Alexander (Carter).
Frances was a member of Mt. Union Baptist Church since her youth. She served as church clerk, Sunday school and training union teacher, and choir member. Also a member of the Golden Agers. She was also a discussion leader for the Bible Study Fellowship group at Immanuel Baptist Church in El Dorado.
She published a cookbook of her favorite recipes in 1992, taught herself to decorate cakes and opened her catering business "Frances' Country Pastries". She operated her business for 45 years. She was a field editor for the "Taste of Home" magazine. In 2013 she received a certificate for 50 years of service with the Extension Homemakers Clubs. Her creativity extended later in life to learning to oil paint. At the time of her death she had painted over 100 oil paintings.
Visitation will be on Sunday, September 11th at Mt. Union Baptist Church, 653 Mt. Union Rd. from 2pm-4pm. Memorial service will be Monday, September 12th at Mt. Union Baptist Church at 10am under the direction of Perry's Funeral Home.
Memorials can be given to Mt. Union Baptist Church for the 2017 Honduras Mission trip and mailed to 653 Mt. Union Rd, El Dorado, AR 71730.
