Garrett Gene Armstrong, 52, of Smackover, Arkansas, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011, following a brief illness at Medical Center of South Arkansas.
He was born September 22, 1958, in Misson, Texas to Delma Gene Armstrong and Pattie Sue Garrett Armstrong Brown.
He accepted Christ as His Savior in 2006 and was baptized.
Garrett loved joking around, laughing, and visiting with friends and family. He was a very talented piano player and an avid NASCAR fan . Garrett worked for many years in cable vision construction all over the United States. The last several years were spent driving his "big rig" cross country with Jo in Tow.
Garrett was preceded in death by his father, Delma Gene Armstrong, his paternal grandparents, Delma and Tilly Armstrong, and his maternal grandparents, Robert J and Jinn Garrett.
Garrett is survived by one son Daniel Armstrong of Hot Springs, Arkansas, his mother and step father, Pattie Sue and Harlen Brown of El Dorado, his long-time girl-friend and sidekick Jo Ellen Wright of Smackover, two sisters Jina Schubert (Paul) of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Jeri Thomas (Jeff), and one brother Harlen Brown (Terrah) all of El Dorado, and two grandsons Elijah and D. J. Armstrong of El Dorado, nine nieces and nephews and two great nephews and his good friend Bobby Brumley.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 4:00 PM at the home of the parents 2301 Lakeview Drive, El Dorado; with Rev. Paul F. Schubert officiating.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
