Gene Smith 73 of El Dorado died Thursday July 25, 2013 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. He was born February 25, 1940 in El Dorado and is the son of the late Walter James Smith and Ruby Estelle Darden Smith. Gene was a career paint contractor who loved working. He enjoyed deer hunting and drinking coffee with his friends in his spare. He was a natural prankster who loved playing pranks on friends and family but most of all he cherished his family who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Patsy Smith, a son; Brad Smith, daughter; Tracy Blanton, two brothers; Roy Joe Smith and John Ruben Smith.

Survivors include his daughter; Debbie Saulsbury of El Dorado, his grandchildren; Chase Deason of Mt Holly, Amber Dews (Lamar) of Magnolia and Leigh Blanton, great grandchildren; Dawson Dews , Dylan Dews, Alexis Dunn, Faith Dunn, Hope Dunn, a brother Bob Smith of El Dorado, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family and a lifelong special companion, Sandy Smith.

Visitation will be from 6-8 Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Perry's Funeral Chapels
Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday July 28, 2013 at Perry's Funeral Chapels with Rev. Larry Goza officiating. Active pallbearers will be Michael Smith, Dillon Smith, Randy Smith, Jody Smith, David Voss and Lamar Dews. Serving as honoraries will be Lane Smith, Mike Carol, Allen Pharr, Dennis Orren, and Bubba Smith Burial will be at Friendship cemetery.
