Obituary

George Thomas Mellinger, Jr. (Bro. Tommy), 77, of El Dorado passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Little Rock, AR.
He was born on September 28, 1939 to George Mellinger, Sr. and Margaret Cook Mellinger, who precede him in death. Also preceding him in death was a brother-in-law; Gene Curry.

Besides taking care of his family, the focus of his life was serving the Lord. He served as pastor of the following churches in Arkansas and Louisiana: Weldon Baptist Church, Three Creeks Baptist Church, Krotz Springs Baptist Church, Mineral Springs Baptist Church, Parkview Baptist Church, and Galilee Baptist Church. He also began the Resort Ministry for the Louisiana Baptist Convention on Lakes D'Arbonne and Claiborne and started Pleasure Point Chapel at Bo Peterson's on Lake Claiborne. After retiring from full-time pastorate, he continued to serve the Lord as music minister at Canaan Baptist Church and was currently serving at Temple Baptist Church. He was an active volunteer counselor for Liberty Association Food Pantry. He was a master carpenter and enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting. He was deeply loved and admired by his family and respected by all who knew him.

He is survived by the love of his life for 56 years, Mary Ann Taylor Mellinger of El Dorado; two daughters, Keitha Cleveland (Brad) of Pineville, LA, Tammy Orr (Jeff) of Junction City; three sisters, Martha Curry of Texarkana, Betty New (Elwynn) of El Dorado, Judy Davis (R.K.) of Homeland, CA; 1 brother, James Mellinger of Yuma, AZ; six grandchildren, Caleb Nall (Melinda), Adam Nall (Julia), Benjamin Cleveland all of Pineville, LA, Taylor Orr, Courtney Orr, Jacob Orr all of Junction City; seven great-grandchildren, Hunter, Coltyn, Joshua, Connor, Joseph, Hailey, and Hanna; multiple nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Parkview Baptist Church in El Dorado with funeral services at 10am on Saturday, November 5, 2016 also at the church with Bro. Robert Lee and Bro. David Mitchell officiating.
Internment will follow service at Primative Cemetary under direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons along with honorary pallbearers James Garrett, Bill Rodgers, and Bill Fielder.
