Obituary
George Franklin Slater 80, of Delhi, LA and formerly of Strong, AR passed away December 13, 2016 at Cornerstone Hospital in West Monroe, LA.
George was born to the late John F. Slater and Bertie Kelley Slater. He was a graduate of Strong High School and a member of the Masons.
George was a Tech Sargeant in the U.S. Air Force where he retired after more than 20 years of service. He also retired from the U.S. Post Office after 14 years of service.
George is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Hilda, Marjorie, Evelyn, Kathryn and Elizabeth.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ida Mae Slater; one son, John Slater (Sharron); two daughters, Barbara Dutton and Carolene Boardman; step children, Ricky Norris (Barbara), Sharon Dunham (Charles), Ken Norris and Tina Sexton, all of Delhi, LA; twenty-one grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister Meril Dean Hicks (Zane) from Farmerville, La.;
Visitation will be held from 1 – 3pm Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Perry's Funeral Chapels in Strong. Services will immediately follow at 3pm. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Presbyterian Cemetery in Strong.
The family will be at the home of John and Sharron Slater, 12593 Strong Hwy. Strong, AR 71765.
