Obituary

Gerald W. Duke, 82, of Strong, died Friday April 9, 2010. He was born November 2, 1927 in
Bolding, Arkansas. He was the son of Willie Duke and Alice Evelyn Smith Duke. He was a
United States Navel Veteran, serving in World War II. He was a member of the First Church of
God. He was a welder / pipefitter by trade and a member of the Local Union #706 Pipe Fitters
Union.

Gerald was a dedicated family man who loved the Lord. He was proud to serve his country. He
was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, but most of all he loved
his family who will dearly miss him.

He was preceded by his parents and his first wife Gelynn Duke who passed away April 12, 2000

He is survived by his wife Rose Tucker Duke of Strong, daughter; Linda Kay Duke Black
(Steve) of Strong, and Leshia Lynn Duke Tokins (Tim) of Montecello, sisters; Reba
McDuffie, Opal Castleberry of Danville, Arkansas, and Jeanne Bender (Big Boy) of Strong
grandchildren; Brent Black ( Brecken), Kaylan Black Thompson (Brett), Skye Atkins Maxwell
(Chris), Randi Kay Atkins, and one great-grandson; Jace Arron Thompson

Funeral services will be 10AM Monday April 12, 2010 at Perry's Funeral Chapels in Strong with
Revs. Donald Smith and Richard Smith officiating. Burial will be in Strong cemetery. Visitation
will be from 6PM - 8PM Sunday, April 11, 2010 at the funeral home
