Howell Lane Dawkins peacefully passed away surrounded by family on September 03, 2025,

at the age of 61. Howell was born on June 25, 1964 in Monroe, LA to parents Wallace "Wally" and Nora Lee Smith Dawkins.

Howell built a successful career as a truck driver, but his life's work extended far beyond the highway. Throughout the years, he applied his skills and determination to several occupations, always finding ways to provide for his family and leave a lasting impact on those around him.

He was never without a project in the works, as building brought him joy and fulfillment. Whether through woodworking, leatherworking, or blacksmithing, Howell poured his heart into his craft, leaving behind creations that will be treasured for generations. He also had a gift for storytelling, always ready to share a good joke or tale that brought laughter to family and friends.

Proud of his Chickasaw heritage, Howell was the grandson of an original enrollee of the Dawes Commission, and he carried that legacy with honor throughout his life.

Above all, Howell loved spending time with his family. His presence, wisdom, and warmth created a foundation that his loved ones will forever hold dear.

He will be remembered as a builder of many things; projects, stories, and, most importantly, a life filled with love.

He was preceded in death by his father Wallace "Wally" Dawkins, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory include: two sons Creede Dawkins (Claire) and Crandon Dawkins; two sisters Cleta White (Jerry) and Brenda Wilkes; mother Nora Lee Smith Dawkins; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held in his honor at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 7, 2025 at Life Church, 118 S Martin Ln, West Monroe, LA 71292, interment following at Liberty Hill-Taylor Cemetery in Farmerville, LA. A time of visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until time of service at the church.
