Irma Elizabeth White Manning, 63, of Strong, Ar., went to be with her heavenly father on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado Ar., surrounded by her girls and loved ones following her battle with cancer.
She graced this earth on May 16, 1948, to Theron Hardy White and Mildred Hankins White of Monroe, La. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Huttig, Ar., VFW Ladies Auxiliary of El Dorado and Huttig Volunteer Fire Fighters Ladies Auxiliary. Throughout her life she was involved in activities which included GA's in church as a young girl, Y-Teen, she was the recipient of the Betty Crocker Award her senior year at Ouachita Parish High School '66. She had kept in touch and was very close with the class that she graduated with. She taught Sunday School and played the piano at Highland Park Baptist Church in Monroe. Irma retired from Teddy Bear's in Strong where she had been the manager for 18 years. Her favorite things included being with her family and friends, gardening, and traveling. Irma was dedicated, caring, loving, funny, outgoing, inspirational and a compassionate mother, "Nanny, and friend.
Irma was Welcomed into Heaven by her grandparents; Dan and Emma Hankins of Monroe, Theopolis and Minnie White of Bastrop/Sikes, La., her parents, brother Raymond Wayne Burch, extended family and canine companion Gypsy Rose.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her "girls"; Beverly Manning Womack (Randall)of Huttig, Elizabeth Manning Walters (Travis) of W. Monroe, Crystal Manning Overstreet of El Dorado, and Misty Manning Russell of Linville La.; grandchildren; Chad Womack (Holly), J.C. Stephenson, Wesley Rains, Fisher Hightower, Amelia Grace Overstreet and Gage Russell; Great Grandson; Zachary Womack and a host of extended family and friends, as well as "Special Sisters" Elaine Strickland of El Dorado, Betty Anders Reinhart of W. Monroe and Mary Larson Bright of Alabasta, AL.
Funeral will be 10 A.M. Friday, August 12, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Huttig with Revs Todd Gunter and Tommy Nash officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA at approximately 3:00 p.m. Under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels of Strong.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011 at First Baptist Church , 302 4th St. in Huttig.
