IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Fletcher
Nicholson
January 30, 1933 – October 2, 2022
James Fletcher Nicholson, 89, of Strong, AR passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Timberlane Health & Rehab following a lengthy illness.
The son of Raymond Clyde Nicholson and Grace Duke Nicholson, he was born January 30, 1933 in Strong, AR.
He was a very hard-working man. As a teenager he worked in several different states across the country laying and working on pipeline, followed by a stint in the Army. After the Army he worked several years as a roughneck in the oil field, until a leg injury kept him off the rigs. It was then he became a self-employed logger for about 30 years until age 63. He found retirement boring so he began working again as a log truck driver until the age of 74.
He like to read watch sports, hunt, play poker, and spend as much time as possible outdoors. He loved to work in the garden and planted a big one every year.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul Clyde Nicholson and Vernon Neil Nicholson; and wife Dora Logan Nicholson.
Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca Nicholson and son Vernon Ray Ballard.
At his request, there will be a private internment at a later date at Strong Cemetery. Donations may be made to UCAPS (Union County Animal Protection Society).
