James Crawford "Pete" Hayes, 80, of Wesson died Tuesday April 5, 2011 at Courtyard Health and Rehabilitation. He was born August 22, 1930 in Wesson and is the son of Crawford Clifford Hayes and Mary Calie Roberson Hayes who preceded him. Also preceded him were his brothers; Narl Hayes, Julius Hayes, Donald "Cap" Hayes and Pat Hayes, five infant sisters, nephews John Jr. Brumley and Donald Wayne Brumley.
Survivors include a sister; Marzell Brumley, nephews; Chris Hayes, Kenneth Hayes Donald Author, James Brumley Michael Brumley , Gerald Simms, and Michael Wilson, great nephews and niece; Isah Martinez, Eric Simms, and Mahika Singh and siter-in-law; Marie Hayes.
Pete loved the simple things in life. He loved to work with dirt, and all the enjoyment that comes from building a garden, whether it was plowing, planting, mowing the grass or simply raking leaves which he would do until dark. This enjoyment flowed into other peoples lives by him breaking the ground for their gardens. He loved church and attending gosple singings. Another one of his passions was to talk to people at Wal-Mart He would sit on the benches and visit people for hours.
Gravesides services will be 2PM Saturday April 9, 2011 at Scotland Cemetery with Rev. J.D. Weido officiating. Visitation will be 6PM - 8PM Friday at Perry's Funeral Chapels.
