James "Jim" Lavelle Tinsley, graduated into the arms of his savior on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the age of 94 years, in his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born October 3, 1930 in El Dorado, AR.

James was a faithful member of Sandyland Missionary Baptist Church where he served many years as a deacon and Bible teacher. He was a member in good standing with the El Dorado chapter of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W) for over 70 years where he also served as a business agent between the years of 1969-1972. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he proudly served our country as a marine. James was a man of many skills and talents throughout his 94 years of life, making so very many lifelong friends, but his greatest attribute was his love of The Lord Jesus Christ and His Word.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Joy I. West; parents G.L. and Opal Tinsley; one daughter Brenda Sutherland; and two sons James L Tinsley II, and Joe D. Tinsley.

He is survived by his daughter Sheila A. Raley (Terry), son Dale L. Tinsley (Trysta), 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 5 great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services in his honor will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Sandyland Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Jack Herring and Rev. Bill McDaniel officiating, internment following at Smackover Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 5-7:00 PM Friday, October 18, 2024, at Perry's Funeral Chapel in El Dorado, AR.
