IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jerry
Sandifer
November 30, 1946 – March 24, 2025
Jerry Rex Sandifer, age 78, passed from this life March 24, 2025 to be with his Lord Jesus Christ. Jerry was born November 30, 1946 to Fred Nathaniel and Matilda Bernice Sandifer in El Dorado, AR, at Warner Brown Hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of Union County Arkansas, raised in Wesson Arkansas and attended Junction City High School. Jerry enlisted into the US Army after graduation. He served his country in the Vietnam war where he was stationed in Korea in the Combat Engineer Battalion. After an Honorable discharge he attended Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science in Houston, Texas, graduating in the fall of 1970. He was a licensed Embalmer and Funeral Director all of his adult life and achieved a lifetime license in 2020. While working as a Funeral Director he managed to also make time to graduate from Eaton Beauty College in Little Rock, Arkansas in the spring of 1974. He owned and operated Guys and Dolls Hair Styles for 17 years, then closing in1995. After leaving the hair salon business he moved to Little Rock Arkansas where he opened and operated the Bread Basket Cafe on Hwy 10 West in Little Rock, AR. After closing the restaurant, he returned to El Dorado where he worked for Young's Funeral Directors. In 2002 he helped open and manage Perry's Funeral Chapels alongside his friend Perry Eddleman. Jerry would say the greatest thing he ever did was to accept salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of ten, having been led to pray by Cora Pollard while in Chicago for a short time with his family in 1955-1956. He became a member at Marrable Hill Chapel in 1974. He served as a teacher several years, and as Sunday school superintendent for two years, as well as the first Commander of the AWANA program there. Jerry retired in 2011, during this time he struggled with Parkinson's Disease, thus he requested all memorials please be made to the Michael J Fox Foundation or Marrable Hill Chapel. PO. Box 11585 El Dorado, AR 71730.
He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew Bobby Silvester; and great niece Meghan Elaine Mobley.
Those left to cherish his memory include: two sisters Beverly Sandifer Baldwin and her husband Jim, and Mitzi Sandifer Horn and her husband Melvin; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Arkansas Hospice and Hudson Nursing Home for their care of Jerry through his final journey.
