Jimmy Clyde Farris, 77, of Strong, AR, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on May 26, 2026. He was born on July 2, 1948, in El Dorado, AR, to the late Clyde and Opal Farris. Jimmy was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970. He worked in the oil fields for 31 years and was an active member of Second Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in Strong.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents; two infant siblings; and two granddaughters, Laken Smith and MeaRanda Fairris. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Glenda;his brother, Robert Farris (Cynthia) of Strong; his four daughters: Belinda Farris Walden of Strong, Tammy Smith (John Holleman) of Farmerville, La, Opal Farris (Bryan Castillo) and Faithann Farris of Strong; his four grandsons: Blane Smith (Season) of Moro Bay, Ar,; Austin Fairris (Morgan) of Strong; Jayce Bearden (Justice) of Farmerville, La; and Tyler Bearden (Lindsey) of Strong; and his 14 great-grandchildren: Hayden , Phoenix, Dayton, Brylee, Bentley, Ashtin, Brantley, Zainey, Memphis, LakeLynn, Denver, Nellie, Kade, and Everly.
Jimmy is remembered by his loved ones as an avid storyteller who loved to teach his grandsons how to work on vehicles. He also enjoyed spending time visiting with his grandkids and great grandkids as well as friends and family.
Pallbearers are Ted Gathright, Mitch Burson, Bob Poole, Randy Fairris, Justin Farris, and Daniel Farris. Honorary pallbearers are Dobie Dopson, Ronald Dean Watts, Greg Smith, and Dewayne DeFee.
Services will be held Saturday May 30, 2026, 1:00 pm at Second Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in Strong with Bro. Bill Howard officiating. . Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00pm Friday May 29, 2026, also at Second Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in Strong. Burial to follow at Union Cemetery in Sadie, La under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapel. An online registry can be signed at www.perrysfuneralchapels.com
