At approximately 10:30 AM, March 14, 2012, Joe Tinsley suddenly stepped from this life into the wonderful presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, realizing that "death is swallowed up in victory". What he longed for & preached about for so long, he now enjoys.
Joe was born Sept. 3, 1955 in El Dorado, AR to James L. and Joy West Tinsley. He was an electronic technician for West Fraser, as well as a beloved and devoted pastor of Harper Springs Missionary Baptist Church. He served his county in the United States Air Force, and his neighbors as the former pastor of Second Avenue Baptist Church in Strong, AR and Second Baptist Church in Huttig, AR.
Joe is preceded in death by sister, Brenda Sutherland, and infant brother, James Tinsley. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Cindy Russell Tinsley, son Joel Adam Tinsley of Greenbrier, AR, a sister Sheila Raley and husband Terry of Mobile, AL, and brother Dale Tinsley of Sandyland. He dearly loved and was loved by his 11 nieces and nephews, 12 great-nieces and nephews, and 3 great-great nieces. He is also survived by in-laws, Huey Dell & Lerlene Russell, Barry and Teresa Wooten & niece Sydney, who loved and cared for Joe as if he were their very own, and whom he dearly loved likewise.
Funeral will be held at 2 PM, Saturday at Harper Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Huttig, AR, with Bro. Roger Cole and Jackie Herring officiating. Burial will follow in Harper Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels. Visitation will be Friday from 5 PM to 8 PM at Perry's Funeral Chapels.
