Obituary
John E. Downey, 80, of El Dorado passed away August 28, 2017 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas.
John was born July 24, 1937 to the last James Russell and Vernida May Howard Downey. He served 13 years in the Air Force and 8 years in the Army Reserve, a former commander of the American Legion Post 10. John was a very patriotic man, participating in all patriotic events that he could possibly attend. He also loved to hunt and fish.
Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Anne Frisby Downey and one brother, Charles Russell Downey.
Those left behind are his children, Sheri Jones (Scotty), Jim Downey (Amaryllis) and Ed Downey (Susan); five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8pm on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Perry's Funeral Chapels.
Graveside service will be at 10am Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Old Union Cemetery with Bro. Ronny Robins under direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to Wounded Worriers P.O. Box 758516 Topeka, KS 66675.
The family will gather at Jim Downey's residence 744 Nick Springs Rd. El Dorado, AR 71730.
