John B. Hartsfield, 92, of El Dorado, died Saturday July 2, 2011 at Bradley County Medical Center. He was born April 15, 1919 near Washington, Arkansas and is the son of the late John Sanders Hartsfield and Roxie Ann Cole Hartsfield. He retired from American Oil in the maintenance department after 24 years of service. He is United States Army veteran. He was a member of the VFW James P. Carrol Post and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
He loved being outdoors, whether it was riding four wheelers or squirrel hunting with dogs with his sons and square dancing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Nellie L. Cook Hartsfield, brothers; Harold Hartsfield , Leo Hartsfield, and Jack Hartsfield, sisters; Louise Churchwell and Marion Conner.
Survivors include sons; Bill Hartsfield (Marilyn), and Mike Hartsfield (Linda) all of El Dorado, a brother and sister; Herbert Hartsfield , and Wilma Reese both of Hope, Arkansas, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10AM Tuesday July 5, 2011 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. David Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be, Horace Wilson, Don Qualls, Jeff Waite, Brandon Pridgen, Ralph Johnson, and Carey Hartsfield.. Visitation will be from 6-8PM Monday July 4, 2011 at Perry's Funeral Chapels.
