John Amos Jackson (91) of El Dorado passed away peacefully on August 16,
2016. Many thanks to the staff of Hudson Nursing home for the loving
care over the years.
Born in Norphlet, AR February 3, 1925, he graduated Smackover High
School and served in the Army Air Corp in Italy during WWII as a B17
gunner. After his service he studied photography before returning home
to marry the love of his life, Betty. They opened Jackson's Studio in El
Dorado where John showcased his talent and with Betty operated the
business for 30 years. They moved to Las Vegas in 1980; John made his
home again in El Dorado after Betty passed in 1995.
He is survived by his daughter, Jacque Simpson, her husband Lynn, his
sister, Mary Carelock, his granddaughter Jessica Reddick and husband,
Clay, as well as 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Amos Kindle Jackson and Cleatus
Thurlkill Jackson, wife, Betty Ruth Jackson, son, Michael Ray Jackson,
and sister, Cleda Faye Ellenburg.
Graveside service will be held at 1pm on Monday, August
22, 2016 at Smyrna Cemetery in Mt Union, AR. With Bro. Bill Odom officiating
under direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels.
