Obituary

Joseph Theo Drummonds was born January 3, 1964 in El Dorado, AR. He died March 22, 2016 in Houston, TX aboard the MIV, Diablo.

Joe's parents were teachers, and he and his brothers attended schools in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and New Mexico. He graduated from Stephens High School.

At an early age, Joseph made a public profession of faith while attending Central Baptist Church in Grants, New Mexico.

Joe served in the United States Army and worked at several varied jobs before finding his rightful place in the marine industry. One of his work experiences played out in Colorado where he worked for a railroad company. This lasted only a couple of weeks, but he would tell a greatly embellished story which always ended with the proud statement, "I was a gandy dancer." That was just one of his great stories.

At the time of his death he was a USCG licensed towboat captain employed by Harley Marine Gulf.

Joseph loved, rescued, spoiled and enjoyed many animals in his 52 years. No doubt Bonnie, Bandit, Nola, Ginger, Ruggy, Allie and Mattie will wonder why the big guy does not come home bearing chicken nuggets and Vienna sausages.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Drummonds; paternal grandparents; Theo and Thelma Drummonds and maternal grandparents; Samuel and Pearl Canady and one aunt June King.

Those to cherish in his memory his wife and best friend, Beegie Rhodes Drummonds; his mother, Barbara Drummonds; sons, Sgt. Adam Drummonds and Phillip Drummonds; daughters, Rebecca Drummonds McLaughlin and Baylee Jerry. He was the proud grandfather of Royal Drummonds and Esau Mc Laughlin. He also leaves behind his two brothers, Samuel Drummonds (Kathy) and Matthew Drummonds (Katie). Other survivors are his father in law, Bobby Jack Rhodes, Mother in law, June McLeese, and his sister in law, Shirley Leveritt (Michael). Two uncles, Lamar Drummonds and Dennis Drummonds; many cousins and friends. Joseph enjoyed entertaining and sometimes terrorizing his nieces and nephews, Graham, Brandie, B.J., Austin, Audrey, Addison and Skylar.

Our hearts are heavy and we are sad but comforted by the assurance that Joe bought his ticket to an everlasting life by accepting the greatest gift ever given to mankind. We will forever appreciate and remember his sharp wit, comical performances, lively interactions, awesome doodles, amazing art work and believable stories. He kept us on our toes, loved us and entertained us. He was truly a gift from God.

Visitation will be held at Knowles Baptist Church from 1 - 3pm, Monday March 28 with funeral services starting at 3pm. Bro. Jim Willis and Bro. Tommy Nash will be officiating. Interment will be at the Drummonds Private Cemetery under direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels.
