Obituary

Kenneth (Kenny) Max Huitt, 85, of Wesson, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, November 21, 2019. Kenny was born on April 10, 1934, in Wesson to George Otis Huitt and Bynie Elizabeth Douglass Huitt. He attended school in Wesson and graduated from Junction City High School. On April 19, 1963, he eloped with an extremely loyal, supportive, encouraging "Wesson" girl, Relda Mae Garris.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jean Huitt Emerson; brothers-in-law, G.C. Emerson and Charles Garris; sister-in-law, Maxine Collins Jones; nephew, Greg Collins; and niece, Debra Lynn Thorne.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Relda of 56 years; nieces and nephews, Beth Endel (Danny); Lisa Ray (Randy); David Emerson (Stacia); Robert Garris (Terri); Paul Garris (Devona); Scotty Collins; Sharron Cathey (John); Carol Ann Maciel (Guillermo); John Garris; James Garris (Sarah); Christy Jafe (Paul); Michael Thorne (Lisa); Karl Fischer (Marci); Monika Thomas (Alex); Charlie Combs (Lisa); Mark Combs (Michelle); Philip Combs (Chantael); great nieces and nephews, Elise Sanchez (Luis); Elliott Endel (Mary Katherine); Cameron Ray; Adam Emerson (Emily); Michaela Emerson; great great niece and nephew, Katie Endel and Philip Endel along with many other greats and great greats; brother-in-law, Elton Garris (Annette); sisters-in-law, Burnetta Thorne; Mary Lou Fischer; Frances "Teal" Combs (Dean); and Linda Garris.

After attending barber college, Kenny returned to El Dorado where he worked as a barber for 44 years. In that profession Kenny had the opportunity to sometimes serve as a financial adviser, counselor, teacher, encourager, confidant, banker, loan officer, mediator, baby sitter, law officer, nurse, and friend.

Because of his compassionate nature, Kenny has helped many people over the years—free haircuts, buying meals for people, gift cards for groceries, money for various ministries and missions. Kenny loved people, and people loved him. His clients and friends knew their secrets were safe.

Blessed with being a storyteller and a jokester, Kenny could keep an audience enthralled. He always remembered details and punch lines and was a master at getting people to laugh.

Growing up in Wesson, Kenny became a member of Wesson Baptist Church at an early age and continued to be active there until his health prevented his attendance. After services each week, Kenny was mobbed by the children because they knew he always had a sack of penny candy for them which included bubble gum, soft peppermint sticks, and orange slices.

Kenny was a very strong man in many ways. Even though the last few years have been hard on him physically, his faith in the Lord helped him to endure many trials and setbacks. He was an inspiration to many who observed his tenacity and "never give up" attitude. May we continue to be inspired by his example. Kenny will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, November 22, 2019, at Perry's Funeral Chapel in El Dorado. Funeral services will be at 2 pm on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at Wesson Baptist Church.
