Laverne Mason Parker gracefully departed this life on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on December 10, 1934, she was a cherished daughter of the late Loy Mason and Lorene Owens Mason. Laverne's professional career included serving in bookkeeping positions with Smith and Cross Chevrolet Dealerships in Ulysses, Kansas, Lion Oil Refinery in ElDorado and Athens Plow in Athens, Tennessee. She was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church in Malvern, where she also contributed her warmth and kindness to The Ladies Auxiliary.
Laverne had a passion for cooking and she delighted in sharing her food creations with others. Her hospitality knew no bounds, and her home was always open to friends and family, offering them comfort and nourishment. She embraced all who crossed her path with unconditional love, maintaining close connections that were easily nurtured despite any physical distance.
Her strong faith in God fortified her with inner strength and serenity, guiding her through life's joys and challenges alike. She was a shining example of God's love which can be seen in the lives of those she touched.
Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, John Parker; her sister Melba Bagley, and her brother Dale Mason. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, dearly missed by her daughters, Karen (Harry) Jobe of Little Rock and Connie (Mark) Atkinson of Malvern; her beloved granddaughter, Lindsay Atkinson; grandsons, John Jobe and Jason (Sandra) Jobe; step-grandson, Shane Jobe; step-great grandson, Coen Jobe; sister-in-law, Delilah Parker; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services in her honor will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Perry's Funeral Chapel in El Dorado, AR, Bro. Terry Whitley officiating, internment following at Hopewell Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Arkansas Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Laverne's final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Second Baptist Ladies Auxiliary and/or the American Cancer Society, honoring Laverne's enduring spirit of generosity and compassion.
