Obituary

Leon Boykin 83 of Huttig Arkansas passed away December 28, 2008 at Saint Frances Hospital in Monroe Louisiana . Mr. Boykin was born June 19, 1925 to Azariah Boykin and Lucille (Knight) Boykin.

He was preceded by his parents, his loving wife Sybil (Irwin) Boykin, and his son-in-law Mark Gibson.

He is survived by four sons Byron Boykin and his wife Kathey of West Monroe, La, Roger Boykin and his wife Ann of Sibley ,La , Carl Boykin and his wife Tammy of El dorado, Ar. , and Curtis Boykin and his wife Pam of Huttig Ar.
Also his two daughters Karen Mc Knight and her husband Terry, and Judy Gibson.

Mr. Boykin worked at the Manville Sawmill in Huttig for 16 years in the log yard. When he wasn't farming, he enjoyed dancing at the Senior Center. He was a joker who never met a stranger and enjoyed life to it's fullest.

He served his country in Company B Third Armory 197 Division Infantry , also known as " The Hell on Wheels" where he received a Purple Heart with two clusters and two Bronze Starrs and a Valor of Victory metal, he was an expert marksman.

Honoring him by serving as Pallbearers are Byron Boykin, Roger Boykin, Carl Boykin, Curtis Boykin, Terry Mc Knight and Dennis Scott.
Visitation will be tonight Tuesday 12-30-08 from 6:00-9:00 at Perry's Funeral Chapels in El Dorado.
Services will be Wednesday 12-31-08 at 10:30 at Harper Springs Baptist in Huttig Arkansas , officiated by Rev. Ron Charritr, and Rev. Byron Boykin.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Old Lapile Cemetery 712 Bolding Rd. Huttig Arkansas 71747.
