September 5, 1932 – May 8, 2018
Lou Ella "Sissie" Phelps, of Strong, AR, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the John R Williamson Hospice House. She was born on September 5, 1932 to Lindsey Paul and Iva Lissie Sawyer in Fountain Hill, AR.
Sissie was a wonderful wife, mother, and role model. She loved everyone deeply, but especially her Lord, her family and church family. She was a longtime member of the New London Baptist Church and her love for Jesus was obvious to all who knew her. Sissie loved the farm and was a broiler grower for 16 years. She was a hard worker and always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She really enjoyed both her family and class reunions each year and now she is at reunion that will never end.
Sissie was preceded in death by her husband, William Fred Phelps, her parents; sister; Essie Pauline Freitag; and great-grandson Nathan Thompson.
Those left to cherish her memories are her two sons, Lloyd Phelps (Judy) and Larry Phelps; five grandchildren, Michael Phelps, Jeannie Phelps Thompson (Todd), Jacob, Ansley, and Marlowe Phelps; two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Sarah Thompson; seven siblings, L.P. Sawyer (Delta) of Chilton, TX, B.P. Sawyer (Billy Marie) of Strong, AR, Lindsey Cloyce Sawyer (Jeanette) of Maricopa, CA, Thomas Sawyer (Shirley) of Hamburg, AR, Cynthia Farris (Robert) of Strong, AR, Delilah Johnson (Richard) of Texarkana, AR, Ronnie Sawyer (Barbara) of Strong, AR, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM at New London Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, May 11, 2018 at New London Baptist Church with Brother Terry Smith and Brother Tommy Nash officiating.
Burial will follow at Ebenezer Presbyterian Cemetery under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels.
