Obituary

Louis Reed, 92 of El Dorado died Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on January 7, 1923. He was the third son of Frank and Ray Murphy Reed. He married Jean Prater of Canyon, Texas on May 16, 1946.

He and his brother, Walter owned Reed's Wrecking Yard for many years. He was a charter member of both Trinity Baptist and Northwest Baptist Churches. He was a faithful deacon at both.

A devoted husband, an exemplary father, a loving grandfather, and great-grandfather, a self-made businessman of impeccable integrity, hard working with a wonderful sense of humor and delightful wit, his warm generous spirit has blessed the lives of those he touched. He was a man of strong faith. In real and practical ways he made the world a better place.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Carol Ray, a granddaughter Aimee McIlveene, four brothers; Frank, John, James and Ray Reed.

He is survived by his wife; Jean of 69 years, one brother; Walter Reed, two daughters; Rhea Ellen McIlveene and her husband Danny and Emily Evers and her husband Randy, one son Tommy Reed, grandchildren; Tim McIlveene , Joe Ray, Clint Evers, Carrie Evers Johnson and Nick Reed, great-grandchildren; Halley and Clay Evers, Katie and Jacob Ray and Drew Johnson.

The family wants to thank the ladies who took such wonderful care of Louis. Our deepest gratitude goes to Marzelle Glaspie and Minnie Jacksonfor the kind, loving and compassionate care that they gave him.

The pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephew Steve Prater. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandsons.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 25 at Westside Baptist Church.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Westside Baptist Church with Rev. Danny McIlveene officiating, assisted by Randy Evers, Rev. Alan Ellen and Rev. Sye Duke. Burial will be in Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels.

Memorials may be made to Northwest Baptist Church, 5410 Northwest Ave, El Dorado, Arkansas or Gideon International.
