Louis Edward Thomas, age 86, of Parkers Chapel passed away June 11, 2022 at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas following a brief illness. He was born October 14, 1935 in Antoine, AR to Date P. and Etta Bolt Thomas. A friend to all who knew him. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing. He was known by his former co-workers and family as a prankster. He was a loving husband, father and proud Paw to his grandchildren. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer after serving 20 years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean and Vietnam eras. His duties included being the Captain of the Navy aircrafts to which he was assigned. After retiring from the Navy he returned to South Arkansas where he was a machinist with Prescolite for 22 years.
Preceding him in death are his parents, sisters Vera Barton and Lois Beene and an infant sister and brothers Earl Thomas and Kent Thomas.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Velma Smith Thomas of Parkers Chapel, children Kathy (John) Alexander of Hampton, Monte Thomas of Houma LA, and Debra (Mica) Longing of Smackover. Grandchildren Tasheena (Eric) Huestis, Jessica Alexander, Clint (Virginia) Alexander, Alvin Thomas, Eddie Thomas, Dedra (Geoffory) Callahan, Kiera (Colton) Posey, Wesley Longing, 18 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is to be held at Perry's Funeral Chapel 5:00 – 7:00 the evening of June 16, 2022. Graveside service will be June 17, 10:00 a.m. at Union Baptist Church cemetery.
