Margaret Groves, 79, of El Dorado, passed away peacefully at her home with her husband by her side on May 15, 2026. She was born on February 7, 1947, in Alexandria to W.R. Matheny and Clara Blackmon Matheny.

Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose greatest joy in life was caring for the people she loved. She loved cooking for family and friends, tending to her garden, and spending time with those closest to her. Margaret never met a stranger and loved to cut up and joke with people everywhere she went. She could spend hours watching cooking shows, trying new recipes, adding to her treasured cookbook collection, and reading People magazine to keep up with the latest stories and celebrities. Her home was filled with warmth, laughter, good food, and love, and she made everyone feel welcome the moment they walked through the door. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her strength, her sense of humor, and the love she gave so freely. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Mark Jerry; and her brother, Roy Wayne Matheny. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Charlie Groves; her sons, Scott Jerry and his wife, Janna, Steven Jerry and his wife, Jennifer, Charles David “Bo” Groves, Edward Wayne Groves and his wife, Heather; her daughter-in-law, Tracy; 23 grandchildren; and a large brood of great-grandchildren who brought her so much pride and happiness. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Arkansas Hospice and to everyone who assisted with Margaret’s care and comfort during this difficult time. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Perry's Funeral Chapel. Margaret will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
