IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marie A.
Lewis
December 19, 1945 – November 3, 2020
Marie A. Lewis, 74, of Mount Holly went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 after an almost 2-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She passed away at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Marie was born on December 19, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Edward Hart and Filomena Florentino Hart. Marie was an elementary teacher for 33 years, spending a majority of her career as a sixth-grade math teacher at Smackover Elementary School. More than anything, she adored being a wife, a mother, and "Granny." Her other hobbies included playing word games, posting on Facebook, writing cards to friends and family, watching the Razorbacks, and laughing with people she loved. In retirement, she was known in Mount Holly for the baked goodies she made for The Mount Holly Store. As a tribute to their favorite baker, the store now refers to their chocolate chip cookies as "Marie's Chocolate Chip Delights."
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ben William Lewis.
She is survived by her son Brett Lewis and wife Jodi, her grandchildren Connor and Audrey of Raleigh, NC; daughter Kelly Vaughan and husband Joel of Omaha, NE; her brother Ed Hart and wife Lynda previously of Central NY; her brother Carl Hart and wife Barbara of Louann, AR; her sister Jo White and husband Al of Philadelphia, TN; her niece Kristi Dunlap and husband Chad, her grandnephews Asher and Phineas of Seymour, TN; and sister-in-love Judith Lewis of San Francisco, CA.
Visitation will be held from 3–5 PM on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Perry's Funeral Chapels followed by a fellowship gathering at Mount Holly Community Church. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Perry's Funeral Chapels, officiated by Rev. Ed Hart. Interment will follow at Mount Holly Cemetery.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the family requests that you wear your mask at Perry's Funeral Chapels.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Marie's honor to Mount Holly Community Church, 2935 Stephens Hwy, Mt Holly, AR 71758.
