Obituary

Martin Ray Harrell, age 76, passed from this life Sunday, July 27, 2025. Martin was born October 13, 1948 in El Dorado to the late William and Orrell Anglin Harrell.

Martin spent some of his life in the Southwest, where he developed an enduring love for the region's landscapes, culture, and spirit. He often spoke fondly of the time he spent there, and those who spent time with him knew how passionate he was about all things "out west."

An avid NASCAR fan, Martin's love for racing and speed was a constant throughout his life. He could often be found in the garage, either watching the races or working on his prized possession — a red 1969 Z28 Camaro. In his younger years, Martin enjoyed drag racing and was known for his competitive spirit.

But Martin's love for cars didn't stop there. He also dedicated countless hours rebuilding his beloved 1972 Chevelle, an endeavor that showed not only his mechanical skills but also his determination and commitment to doing things right.

Through the many challenges and experiences that life threw his way, Martin remained steadfast, tough, and resilient. He showed us all how to live life fully — with passion, perseverance, and a sense of adventure.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Clyde Harrell; and one sister Ramona Harrell.

Those left to cherish his memory include: two daughters Mona Williams (Jim), and Tina Kemp; two step-children Shannan Whitt and Paul Covington; three grandchildren Shelbie Blackwell, Sawyer Williams (Whitney), Payne Williams; four great-grandchildren Olivia Blackwell, Maddi Jones, Mollie Jones, Corban Pollard; one sister Jan O'Neil; as well as a host of extended family and car enthusiast friends.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Pastor Eric Goble officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00-9:45 at Perry's Funeral Chapel.
