Millard Skinner, 65, of Parkers Chapel, left this life on Sunday January 25, 2009 at his home. He was born July 6, 1943 in El Dorado and is the son of Howard Skinner and Carrie Lee Bradley who preceded him. He served in the United States Army and then continued that service with the Army Reserves for several years after. He retired as assistant chief after serving 20 years with the El Dorado Fire Department. After retiring from the Fire Department , he drove a freight truck for ABF Trucking for 18 years. He was a lifetime member of Parkers Chapel United Methodist Church.
Millard was an easy going family man who loved his family and friends and the simple things in life. He was an avid outdoorsman, whether he was hunting or fishing with his family , chopping wood, or simply working around the house. He prefered being outdoors blending with nature. He constantly supported his family by attending ball games and other activities his family was involved with. He was genuinely interested in his friends lives as well. If you were fortunate to feel this love, then you were his friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Surviving him, is his loving wife Joy Skinner, of Parkers Chapel, his sons; Howard Skinner and wife Christie, and their children Jacob and Jessica, of Parkers Chapel, and Charles Skinner and wife Lexie of San Antonio, Texas, sisters; Earlene "Pat" Galbraith of El Dorado, and Jean Wolfe and husband Bill of El Dorado, and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday January 30, 2009 at Parkers Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Moss officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Methodist Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his nephews. Visitation will be from 5:00pm til 8:00pm on Thursday January 29th 2009 at Perry's Funeral Chapels. In lieu of flowers and in his memory, memorials can be made to Parkers Chapel United Methodist Church.
