Nellie Elizabeth Ables Blackmon passed away at her home in Calion on December 12, 2008. She was born on September 25, 1922, in Calhoun County, the only daughter of Charles Wesley and Nancy Avant Ables. She was a member of Trinity Chapel Church in Hampton and a homemaker.

Preceding her in death was her husband, George E. "Buster" Blackmon who she married March 11, 1943; her parents, and four brothers, Clyde, Barney, Herbert, and Terrell Ables.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Tomlinson (Randle) of Calion; a son, George Blackmon (Debbie) of El Dorado; three grandsons, Sedley Tomlinson of Conway, Matthew Blackmon (Amber), El Dorado; Zachary Blackmon, Ruston; one great grandchild, Georgia Lane Blackmon of El Dorado; one brother, Tilman Ables (Dorothy) of Hampton.

Chapel services will be 2:00pm Monday December 15, 2008 at Perry's Funeral Chapels with Barry Southall and Mack Ables conducting the service. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00pm til 4:00pm Sunday December 14, 2008 at the funeral home. The family will be at the Blackmon residence at 433 Landing St., Calion, Arkansas
