Opal Carelock Ledgerwood, 93, of North Little Rock, and formerly of El Dorado, died November 24 at home.
She was born September 1, 1922, in Union County to John T. Carelock and Alma B. Foster Carelock. Opal was the former owner of the Medical Center Coin Laundry, and co-owner of North Heights Coin Laundry.
Opal's entire life was centered around her family and her church. She was a lifetime member of First Assembly of God Church in North Little Rock , she was a Sunday School teacher and worked in all departments of the church. For many years, she also taught Sunday School at the Heritage House in North Little Rock. Opal served as president of both the Junior and Senior Women's Missionary Councils of the church. Often, she could be found visiting nursing homes and the homebound.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Harlan V. Ledgerwood; her parents; two sisters, Margie McMillian and Reba Armer; and brother, Doyle Carelock.
Survivors include her son, Harlan Wayne Ledgerwood of North Little Rock; nieces Patricia Wright Goldsworthy and Linda Allbritton; nephews Tim and Roger Carelock; sister-in-law, Nina Carelock; and great niece, Amber Wright-Nickalaus.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2pm Tuesday, December 1 at Perry's Funeral Chapels. Services will immediately follow visitation.
