Orland Wesley (Pete) Darden 86, of El Dorado died Monday August 20, 2012 at his home. He was born April 25, 1926 in Lisbon to Lem Thomas Darden and Mary Jetton Darden. Before retirement, he worked as a log lift operator in the saw mill industry most of his career. After retiring he spent most of his time with family and working in his garden. He loved the outdoors and working with dirt. He also had a passion for helping others in need, whatever that need might be..
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Norma Jean Crow Darden, six brothers,four sisters and most recently his youngest brother, Lem (Junior) Darden.
Survivors included his sons, James Darden of Arkadelphia, and Curtis Darden of El Dorado, a daughter, Shirley Sue King (Alvin) of El Dorado, three sisters, Thelma Smith of East End, Verdie Phillips of Urbana, and Berdie Nipper (James) of Old Union, grandsons, Wesley King, Jeff King, and Christopher Darden, granddaughters, Sherryl Harris, LaJoy Pepper, Crystal Darden, and April Taylor, great grandsons, Gage Taylor, Shawn VanHook, Drake Harris, great granddaughters, Ahlexus Darden, Dayna King, Brooklyn King, Mallary Harris, and a great great grandson, Brennon Allison.
Funeral services will be held at 10am Thursday August 23, 2012 at Marrible Hill Chapel with Clyde Darden and Ben Wasson officiating under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Wednesday August 22, 2012 at the funeral home.
