Obituary

Patricia (Pat) Lenora Sumners, 82, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at her daughter's home surrounded by family after a short battle with lung cancer.  She leaves behind cherished memories and an indelible mark on the lives she touched.  Pat was born on July 3, 1941, in Prescott, Arkansas, to the late Leonard and Gladys Brown.

She was a remarkable soul—funny, loving, and sassy, known for her warmth and vibrant personality.  Her journey led her through a fulfilling career as a Supervisor with Yellow Freight, where her dedication and leadership shone brightly.  From her days as a majorette at Camden Fairview High School to the joys of retirement, Pat's heart overflowed with love for her family.  Her greatest joys were found in the presence of her children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. She was a huge fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Dallas Cowboys, sharing her passion for sports with those around her.  Pat's love knew no bounds, extending even to her fur baby, Bubba, with whom she shared countless cherished moments. She found solace in simple pleasures—cooking, watching television, listening to gospel music, fishing and embracing the beauty of everyday life.  Her legacy lies not only in her professional achievements but in the love and laughter she brought into the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.  Pat will be deeply missed, her memory cherished in the hearts of all who had the privilege of sharing in her light.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Sumners; along with her three brothers Waylon "Carol", Bobby Dale and Norman Brown.

Survivors include one daughter Tricia Hammons (Michael) of Katy, Texas; one son Steven Hill of Green Bay, Wisconsin; three step-daughters Shelle Morgan (Lee), of Newtown, Pennsylvania; Stacey Schwindt (David), of Austin, Texas; Carrie Sumners (Mahmoud) of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren Jordyn Cottrell, Chase Cottrell, Ethan Hammons, Dustin Lynch, Nikki Read, Lucy Rose Polevoy; two great-grandsons Emmett Read, Caden Lynch; one sister Peggy Sue Turbeville; two sister-in-law's Helen and Mary Elizabeth "Turks" Brown; and numerous very special nieces, nephews and cousins.
