Obituary

Paula Kay Oliver, age 74, of Felsenthal, AR passed from this life Tuesday, September 9, 2025 surrounded by family. Paula was born March 29, 1951 in El Dorado, AR to the late Alfred and Blanche Pyle.

Paula Oliver left behind memories as rich and joyful as the laughter she so often shared. She was a woman of faith who dearly loved her church and cherished the fellowship and friendships she found there.

Paula loved being outdoors, whether it was enjoying the beauty of her beloved Felsenthal or traveling out west to take in the wide-open views. Though she enjoyed her travels, her heart was always happiest at home, surrounded by family, friends, and the simple joys of small-town living.

She had a deep love for children and a soft spot for animals, especially her dogs and cats who were part of the family. Paula also loved gathering people together—family reunions were some of her favorite times, filled with love, laughter, and plenty of good food.

Known for her cooking, Paula made the best chocolate éclair cake and chicken and dumplings—dishes that became family favorites and traditions in their own right. She also brought her competitive spirit to the game table and the volleyball court. Whether playing rook or volleyball, Paula played to win and took both games very seriously.

A true Razorback fan, she never missed a chance to cheer on her team with pride. But above all, Paula will be remembered for her big heart, her contagious laughter, and the love she poured into her family and friends.

Her memory will live on in the stories shared, the meals remembered, the games replayed, and the love she sowed into the lives of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-two years Dan Oliver; three brothers William Alfred Pyle, Tommy Pyle, and Charles Pyle; and three sisters Cecile Camp, Martha Smith, and Louise Fimple.

Those left to cherish her memory included: one daughter Teresa Oliver; one son Scotty Oliver (Jami); seven grandchildren Laigle Davis (Shelby), Robert Jackson, Ali Hudson, Darby Gathright, Andrew Oliver, June Oliver, Ryan Oliver; four great-grandchildren; one sister Linda Calk; one brother Donald Pyle; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral Services in her honor will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 12, 2025, at Felsenthal Baptist Church, internment following at Old Lapile Cemetery in Huttig, AR. A time of visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until time of service at the church.
