IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Percene
Fife
February 2, 1935 – April 16, 2020
Percene Fife passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at 85 years of age at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. She was born February 2, 1935 in Strong, Arkansas to Percy M. and Mittie Mae Walton. Percene loved playing bunko, which she had done so for 40+ years, with various friends. She was a member of New London Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and she loved her church family dearly. She also took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She worked many jobs over the years and took great pride in all of her many skills. Over the years she provided for her family by driving a school bus for Strong School District for over 30 years, working as a store clerk at Food Town in Strong, and owning her own business, Strong Custom Meat Processing, to name a few. After selling her business, she worked at El Dorado Pawn until she retired this past year at the age of 84. She said she only got sick after she retired from her job at El Dorado Pawn and stated she regretted doing so. She instilled an important work ethic to her family and it is our hope to make her proud in our endeavors. She was married to James P. Fife and lived in Strong where they raised their family at the old Walton home place. One of her greatest joys was cooking Sunday lunch for her entire family, which at the high point was over 22 hungry mouths, and whoever else they decided to bring with them, all before going to Sunday school and worship service. Even with everyone persisting she quit, she would let you know that was not an option, and did so up until a couple of years ago.
Percene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (James), her brother Raiford Walton and his wife Jesse. She is survived by a sister, Melba Ruth Limbach (Jack) of Houston, Texas and brother-in-law, Sam Fife (Virginia) of Strong. She is also survived by her sons, Boyd Fife (Jennifer) of Strong, Dale Fife (Linda Jo) of Strong and Scott Fife (Lisa) of Parkers Chapel. Grandchildren, Patrick Fife (Amy) of Hot Springs, Matthew Fife (Patricia) of Strong, Jessica Sellers (Kyle) of El Dorado, Luke Fife (Alyssa) of Strong, Jamie Fife of Strong, Ethan Fife of Parkers Chapel and Payne Fife of St. Joseph, Michigan. Great-grandchildren, Natalie, Hope, Cole, Chloe, Cooper, Ashlynn, Mattison; and one to be born in July (Lennon Rayne Sellers). She is also survived by many nephews and nieces, a dear cousin, Mary Helen Ballard, and a special friend, Sarah Hammons, whom she enjoyed shopping with and burning the roads up with. Also, over the years, she enjoyed a great friendship and working relationship with Jerry Burson, who was a big part of her life.
Due to the COVID-19 Regulations, a private family graveside service will be held at Ebenezer Presbyterian Cemetery under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels. Memorials can be made to Ebenezer Presbyterian Cemetery Fund, 112 Pagan RD, Strong, AR 71765 or New London Baptist Church Library Fund, 581 Parker DR, El Dorado, AR 71730
