Raymond "Tinker" Jackson age 92 of El Dorado, left this life Saturday June 29, 2013 at his home. He was born May 11, 1921 in Mt. Holly to Daniel Webster Jackson and Iola Bernice Irwin Jackson who preceded him. Also preceding him was a wonderful step-mother Hazel Pope Jackson, a brother Emrey Jackson and son-in-law; Cal Tinsley
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Hazel Dixon Jackson, a daughter; Shirley Tinsley of El Dorado, sons; Phillip and Marlene Jackson of Iowa, and Larry Tom and Carla Jackson of Dardanelle, 6 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, several sisters and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
Raymond spent his entire career driving a truck, mostly for Missouri Pacific Trucking who he drove for 37 years without a single accident or ticket. He was active in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) several years earlier in his life. " He was not a man of many words, but a man of his word" during his life, as one family member said it. He enjoyed anything outdoors, hunting and fishing, working in his garden and taking care of his animals on the farm, but most of all he loved his family who will miss dearly but also who appreciated the type of man he was.
Visitation will be from 5-8pm Monday at Perry's Funeral Chapels.
Funeral services are scheduled at 10am Tuesday July 2, 2013 at Perry's Funeral Chapels with Lendl Chapman officating. Burial will be at Silver Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be, Dean Tinsley Bill Jackson, Jerry Jackson, Matt Jackson, Charlie Taylor and Ricky sparks.
