IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Regina
Pierce
December 15, 1955 – October 31, 2024
Regina Pierce, age 68, of El Dorado, Arkansas, passed away on October 31st, 2024, after a brief illness.
Regina and her twin brother, Steven, were born in Little Rock, Arkansas on December 15th, 1955. After Regina graduated from El Dorado High School in 1973, she received her bachelor of psychology from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. On August 15th, 1981, Regina Burton married the love of her life, Franklin Pierce. In February of 1983, Regina and Frank welcomed their daughter Amanda Ellen. Regina received her Master of Social Work (M.S.W.), Clinical, from the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock in 1986.
Regina spent her professional career serving the South Arkansas Regional Health Center in El Dorado and Ozark Guidance Center in Springdale, Arkansas. Regina retired in December of 2022 as the Chief Executive Officer of SARHC in El Dorado. Regina's entire career was dedicated to serving Arkansas's community mental health systems.
Regina enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and took her role as a daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, wife, mother, and friend very seriously. But Regina's most important title was that of "Gigi" to her grandson, Judd Franklin Asberry. Regina enjoyed traveling to Italy, spending time with friends and family at the beach, reading, painting, gardening, and serving her community.
Regina was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary Ellen Burton of El Dorado, her husband, Franklin Pierce of Bella Vista, Arkansas; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents she deeply cherished as well.
Regina is survived by her daughter, Mandy Asberry, and her husband, Arron, along with her grandson, Judd Franklin, of Mission, Kansas. She is also survived by her brother, Steven Burton, and his wife, Benita of El Dorado; her sister, Lisa Tarver; and her husband, Jon of El Dorado. Additionally, she is survived by her nephews Clark Burton, his wife Alison, and their son Tripp of El Dorado; Ross Burton, his wife Kaci, and their sons Chance and Chet of El Dorado, along with her niece Claire Beard and her children Layla and Myron. In addition to her immediate family, Regina is survived by a host of cousins she loved sharing stories and laughs with, even in her final days.
Regina is also survived by many dear friends who became like family over the years, including special friends Jannie Cotton of Little Rock and Jan Sims of El Dorado. Gina, as affectionately known by her friends and family, is also survived by Leola Harris, who has been part of the Burton family for decades.
The family would also like to thank the incredible nurses, sitters, and hospice providers who were with Regina throughout the past few weeks.
In lieu of flowers, Regina's family requests any memorial contributions in her memory be made to the Magdalene House of El Dorado at https://magdaleneeldo.org/donate or the The C.A.L.L. of Union County at https://thecallinarkansas.org/donate.
A "soiree," as Regina called it, will be held in El Dorado at Burton Farms at 530 Sweet Gum Acres Road on Tuesday, November 19th from 2-4 p.m.
